Discover Baoshan

Baoshan offers a quieter western Yunnan travel experience, combining volcanic landscapes, hot springs, ancient towns, ethnic culture, coffee-growing areas, mountain roads, and access to some of Yunnan’s less crowded frontier regions. It is less famous than Dali or Lijiang, but it gives travelers a slower and more local view of southwest China.

A visit can include exploring Tengchong’s volcanic parks and hot springs, visiting Heshun Ancient Town, trying Yunnan coffee, walking through local markets, seeing mountain landscapes, and learning about regional history along old trade routes. The best time to visit is October to April, when the weather is generally comfortable and dry. Baoshan also works well with Tengchong, Dali, Ruili, Dehong, Nujiang, and wider western Yunnan routes.
