Chongqing offers one of China’s most dramatic urban travel experiences, combining mountain city views, rivers, bridges, hotpot, steep streets, night skylines, monorails, old neighborhoods, cyberpunk-like city layers, and strong local character. Built where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet, Chongqing feels very different from flat coastal cities and is especially famous for its vertical urban landscape.

The best time to visit is March to May or September to November, when the weather is more comfortable than the hot summer.
