Discover Tashkurgan

Tashkurgan offers one of China’s most striking highland borderland travel experiences, combining Pamir Plateau scenery, snow mountains, Tajik culture, stone fort ruins, grasslands, yaks, high-altitude roads, and dramatic views along the Karakoram Highway area. Located in far western Xinjiang, it feels remote, open, and culturally distinctive.

A visit can include the Stone City area, Golden Grassland, views of Muztagh Ata, Karakul Lake route stops, Tajik cultural experiences, and scenic drives through the Pamirs. The best time to visit is June to September, when high-altitude roads and weather are more suitable for travel. Tashkurgan works well with Kashgar, Karakul Lake, the Karakoram Highway, Pamir Plateau, and southern Xinjiang routes.
