Xiamen offers one of China’s most pleasant coastal city experiences, combining sea views, island walks, Fujian food, cafés, universities, old streets, colonial-era architecture, temples, and a relaxed southern lifestyle. Located on the Fujian coast, it is especially known for Gulangyu Island and its soft seaside atmosphere.

A visit can include Gulangyu, coastal cycling routes, Zhongshan Road, Nanputuo Temple, Xiamen University area, seafood, Fujian snacks, cafés, and nearby island views. The best time to visit is October to April, when the weather is cooler and more comfortable. Xiamen works well with Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Fujian tulou villages, Fuzhou, Shantou, and the broader southeast coast.
