Discover Fenghuang

Fenghuang offers one of China’s most atmospheric old-town river experiences, combining wooden riverside houses, stone lanes, bridges, night views, Miao and Tujia cultural elements, local food, and a strong sense of historic town scenery. Located in western Hunan, it is especially known for its old town built along the Tuojiang River.

A visit can include walking along the river, crossing old bridges, exploring narrow lanes, trying local snacks, seeing traditional buildings, taking photos at night, and learning about regional minority culture. The best time to visit is April to June or September to November, when the weather is comfortable and the town is easier to explore on foot. Fenghuang works well with Zhangjiajie, Furong Ancient Town, Dehang, Changsha, Zhenyuan, and wider western Hunan and Guizhou routes.
