Discover Gannan

Gannan offers one of China’s most beautiful Tibetan highland travel experiences outside Tibet, combining monasteries, grasslands, prayer flags, mountain villages, river valleys, nomadic culture, and a peaceful plateau atmosphere. Located in southern Gansu, it is especially known for Tibetan Buddhist culture, wide landscapes, and a softer highland route that connects Gansu and Sichuan.

A visit can include Labrang Monastery, Langmusi, Zhagana, grassland drives, Tibetan villages, local markets, and scenic roads through highland valleys. The best time to visit is June to September, when the grasslands are green and road conditions are generally better. Gannan works well with Lanzhou, Xiahe, Langmusi, Zhagana, Songpan, Jiuzhaigou, and western Sichuan routes.
