Discover Lugu Lake

Lugu Lake offers one of southwest China’s most peaceful lake and ethnic culture travel experiences, combining clear blue water, mountain views, Mosuo culture, wooden boats, lakeside villages, temples, sunrise views, and a slow highland rhythm. Located between Yunnan and Sichuan, it feels remote, calm, and visually different from China’s large cities.

A visit can include driving or cycling around the lake, visiting Mosuo villages, taking a wooden boat on the water, watching sunrise or sunset, exploring temples, and staying in lakeside guesthouses. The best time to visit is March to May or September to November, when the weather is clearer and more comfortable. Lugu Lake works well with Lijiang, Dali, Shangri-La, Xichang, and wider Yunnan or western Sichuan routes.
